Formatting cells in Excel spreadsheets
AdvertisementsAppearance information in spreadsheet cells can be modified by either using Format Cells. When launching this command appears on screen dialog box Format Cells
Box contents vary depending on the selected button in the upper window. The options are:
• Number - to change number format
• Alignment - to change the alignment of cell type
• Are - for changing fonts
• Borders - for adding borders around cells
• Patterns - for setting the background color in cell
• Protection - to protect information from cell
Changing the number format
Excel ofera formate or paddle long numerice, which are presented below:

When determining appropriate numeric format, following steps are performed:
1. Select the cell or cell range containing the values to be formatted.
2. If APLICA controls Format, Cells. The screen will display the dialog box Format Cells.
3. Just a click on Number.
4. This list Category, select the number format to be used.
5. On the right side of the box is made desired changes on the selected format. For example you can set the number of decimal places that will be displayed (in list Decimal places), or how negative numbers are displayed (in list Negative numbers).
6. Just a click on OK, se sau apasa tasta Enter. Excel will reformat the selected cells according to options chosen.
If you enter a date into a cell formatted with format Number, date will appear in number (serial number of the date). To solve the problem, change the cell format Number in Date.
Elimination of numerical format of a cell or range of cells is achieved by applying format General.
Formatting toolbar contains several buttons for setting numeric formats. To use one of these buttons, select the cell or area to be formatted, Then apply click on the desired button.
Of option Protection to ferestrei Format Cells allows the selected cell block, this may take effect only if secured the spreadsheet cell is protected. This is done by going to Protection of Tools.
Protection options are multiple: current sheet can protect computer (Sheet), entire file Excel (Workbook)individual privileges to specific users or for selective protection.
